Around the House Cleaner Series: Stain Removal for Carpets and Furniture

If you live in your house, you will drop something unsightly onto your carpet or furniture, but you don't need to bust out an expensive and toxic stain remover to clean it up. Good ol' baking soda and vinegar will take care of most stains!

If you've been reading this blog, it's not secret how much I love baking soda and vinegar. Those two ingredients can scrub clean pretty much everything, and carpet or cloth furniture is no exception! Dab a bit of baking soda on the stained area, spray with distilled white vinegar, and wipe with a damp cloth or sponge. This process may need to be repeated a few times to completely remove the stain, but it should work.

Even vinegar alone can remove a stain! Last year I was putting together the swivel chair I'm sitting in as I type this, and the chair grease got on the carpet. I was so disappointed; I didn't want to be the first one to get something on our brand new carpet. A little vinegar and warm water rubbed it out though. 1. Carpet stains are one of the worst things that a home owner could encounter, since cleaning it could be a real pain in the neck. I also believe that vinegar does the trick, since simply washing it with soap isn’t always effective. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us. All the best!
